Patrick Hall was born in Charleston, SC and has lived in Alaska, Alabama, and Tennessee. After graduating from college in 2004, Patrick traveled throughout the southeast before calling Charleston home in 2006.
During the first 2 years in Charleston, Patrick spent most of his time learning how to craft interesting photos with both wedding professionals and lifestyle photographers. It was during this time the idea to share his newly learned talents with young couples became Patrick's primary goal.
Today Patrick works full time as a commercial wedding photographer in Charleston, SC and enjoys shooting extreme sports, fashion, and commercial images during any freetime he may have left :)
Jamie and Keith are a young fun couple from Charlotte, North Carolina that wanted to do something different so they invited all their friends and family to Charleston for their wedding. These wedding photos were taken at Middleton Plantation just outside of Charleston and they were married in the octagonal garden on the north side of the property. After the ceremony, we walked around the plantation and took some really fun photographs. I also setup a wedding photobooth for their reception which was a big hit. Angela and Russell warned me that when you are the daughter of a state senator, you have to invite a lot of people to your wedding. With over 400 guests, they were not joking! Their wedding was a blast up at the Grand Strand Resort up in North Myrtle Beach, and their friends took some of the most outrageous photobooth pictures ever. Scott and Jessica are a really cool couple from Jersey City. They decided to get married at Middleton Plantation here in Charleston South Carolina but when some horrible weather brushed through the state they wound up changing their venue to the fabulous Charleston Place Hotel in the historical downtown area. Instead of having a big reception, Scott and Jessica opted for a more personal family style dinner at 82 Queen. Ironically, after changing the ceremony site, the weather opened up and we were able to get some great photos outside on an otherwise nasty rainy day. Here is a short slideshow of their wedding day.
I have always wanted to make a consciences effort to bring exciting and fun items to those of you who take the time to keep up with me and my photography. Lee Morris (the other owner of fstoppers) and I decided to have our latest behind the scenes video feature King Street as they shot the 2010 Charleston Fashion Week event. I have really enjoyed the little bit of video shooting fstoppers requires of me, and when you get to feature other photographers doing what I myself enjoy doing (shooting people) it’s always a perfect day by me. Spring time is now here in Charleston which means the wedding season is in full effect. Many of the couples I become friends with are often not even from Charleston but they travel from far and wide to have their wedding here in town. This was the case with Erin Soper and Ramon Cestero who came all the way from Pasadena, California to get married at Middleton Plantation. It can be a little intimidating when the first time you meet a couple is on the day of their wedding. That was clearly not the case with Erin and Ramon. During the wedding I felt like we were already good friends which always helps with the picture taking. As you can see from the slidehshow, they are a really fun couple who not only have great friends but also know how to have a great time. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kate Myers for the last 2 years since she is a wedding planner here in Charleston. So when she told me she was engaged to her best friend Grant, I was excited to see someone who deals with weddings every weekend finally get to plan her own wedding. Well I am very excited to finally be able to share my latest project with everyone. Fstoppers is a joint venture between me and my good friend Lee Morris of www.rlmorris.com that basically features behind the scenes videos of creative professionals as they work on their current projects. The idea was first thought up during a flight heading from Frankfurt Germany to Madrid Spain. We had just finished up a destination wedding in Germany and decided to take a little vacation to Spain with our photo assistants. During that flight the idea of being able to goto one localized website to watch high quality videos of other photographers working really hit us. We love Youtube, Vimeo, and Facebook but none of those sites really captured the simple idea we had. It has taken a good while to finally have the ability to start this website but now that our cameras can take high definition video and we have learned our way around the new video editing programs the whole project has really come together.
It’s a bit scary to think how much work it could require to keep a site like this current with new videos and features so we have decided to make Fstoppers more of a community rather than just a site run by Lee and I.
