Hilton Head Royal Port Clubhouse: Lindsay and JK

Sometimes out of state brides contact me and ask if I will photograph their wedding outside of Charleston. I love traveling and taking photos in new places so unless my schedule just doesn’t work out I almost always like venturing out of Charleston. Lindsay and JK were from Annapolis, MD and they were planning their wedding at the Hilton Head Island Royal Port Clubhouse. Lindsay was also interested in having some casual engagement style photos taken but she knew she and JK would not both be in South Carolina until just before the wedding. Luckily they were able to hang out in Charleston for a few days and we were able to meet up for a quick photo session. I don’t often get to photograph engagement style photos right before a wedding but if I could do it more often I would. Either Lindsay and JK were complete naturals or the excitement they had knowing the wedding was in a few days made it easy for me to pull out genuine smiles out of them. As for the wedding in Hilton Head a few days later, check out the slideshow below to see how it all came together. They had the most amazing sky and lighting for their ceremony I’ve ever seen! I’ll also remember this wedding because their friends had several hilarious photobooth photos by the end of the night….some of them made the final slideshow!

Seabrook Island Wedding : Rachel and Martin

I first met Rachel and Martin back in January, and they were planning their destination wedding in Charleston all the way from Massachusetts. They originally met in England were they went to college before relocating back to the East Coast. Needless to say, I found out that Europeans can not only out drink me but are also quite the dancers! Rachel and Martin planned their wedding ceremony at Middleton Plantation and then everyone traveled out to Seabrook Island for the reception at the beautiful Seabrook Island Clubhouse. You couldn’t ask for a better day for an outdoor wedding and the bubbles after the ceremony added for a unique touch. The guests at the reception absolutely loved the wedding photobooth and took over 800 photos within 2 hours. They also had one of the most unique departures I’ve experienced as all the guests launched candle powered luminaries into the sky. Kiawah Island Wedding Photography: Brent and Blair Beason

I think I met Brent and Blair back in the winter when they called me up to talk about having a wedding out at Kiawah Island’s Sanctuary. Kiawah Island is such a great place to have a wedding and it was fun hearing what this couple had planned. I knew their wedding was going to be fun from the first time I met them and shot their engagement photos. Usually it’s the guys who do not want to spend too much time taking photos but Brent came to the shoot with more ideas than I did. Having couples that are really affectionate towards each other and at times goofy really makes the photos come to life. At the wedding, Brent and Blair were surrounded by really fun friends (including Halle and Brian). Even the real Clemson Tiger mascot showed up during the ceremony. All in all a really fun time out at Kiawah Island and the wedding photos turned out great.

Seabrook Wedding Photography: Lauren and Jim

As a wedding photographer, one thing I always enjoy is shooting weddings all over the southeast. When Jim and Lauren first called me, they told me their wedding was going to be at the brand new Seabrook Island Club House called Ocean Terrace. I was pretty excited for them since I have heard so many great things about the Ocean Terrace in the short time since it was built. Although we faced a short rain storm that pushed the wedding ceremony up a bit, the day as a whole turned out really great. Seabrook has some amazing golf courses which always produce great wedding photographs. Check out a few images below and watch the slideshow to see the full wedding.

Charleston Wedding Season 2009 Recap

Hey everyone, just wanted to wish all my friends a happy holiday season and share a little video slideshow I made from all the weddings this year. It’s been a crazy busy year and it looks like 2010 is going to be even better! I have a few really big projects in the works that are non wedding related which I will be sharing with everyone soon. New York Engagement

I’ve never been to New York during the Christmas season but after having such an amazing trip, I can see why so many people head up to the big apple in December. Charleston, South Carolina is an amazing place but sometimes I miss the bitter cold that makes the holiday season feel like the holiday season. What can I say, I grew up in Alaska and enjoy the snow During my visit I scheduled an engagement shoot with Carlos and Hayley. We both wanted to shoot something that showed the city and after walking around Brooklyn a few days earlier, I knew the location was going to have to be near the Brooklyn Bridge. Here are a few images from their session and let me just say, it was the coldest photoshoot I have done yet! Holding a bunch of camera gear in 28 degree weather isn’t as fun as it sounds but when you have a location like NYC as your backdrop and a couple clearly in love it makes your efforts worth the cursing! Ginny and Mitch

Although Charleston is my home base, I always jump at the opportunity to travel and see something different. Isn’t that why we become photographers, to see something different? Ginny and Mitchell decided to get married in her small, rural home town of Camden, Alabama even though they met, dated, and lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Sometimes I think taking people out of their comfort zone and creating an environment where they can’t help but have a good time is a good remedy for success. I think Ginny and Mitch knocked this one out of the park!
